Ford Escape offers a line of three engines: The 2.5L with independent variable cam timing (iVCT). The available 1.5L EcoBoost® iVCT, the most fuel-efficient engine in the Escape lineup. And for more punch at the pedal, the available 2.0L EcoBoost with responsive twin-scroll turbocharger. Both EcoBoost engines feature fuel-saving and emissions-friendly Auto Start-Stop Technology. Choose the combination of power and efficiency that best suits the road you travel.
Standard on SE and Titanium, the 1.5L EcoBoost® is the most efficient Escape engine. It combines two technologies turbocharging and direct injection. It also features Auto Start-Stop Technology to help reduce emissions and conserve fuel.
The 6-speed SelectShift® transmission includes a Sport mode ("S") that lets you override automatic operation and enjoy the sporty feel of manual control over gear selection. Escape with EcoBoost® also has race-inspired steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters for changing gears easily and quickly.
When you're approaching a curve on wet or dry pavement, standard electronic Curve Control can sense if you're going too fast and slow you down using throttle reduction and anti-lock braking. Once you're into the curve, G-forces tend to transfer more traction to the outside tires than to the inside ones. Standard Torque Vectoring Control enhances that by transferring torque to the wheels that have the most grip, reducing understeer and forcing the front end to hug the inside of the curve.39
Standard AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control (RSC®) uses two gyroscopic sensors to monitor yaw and roll rates. This allows AdvanceTrac with RSC to help you maintain control whenever it detects wheelslip, understeer, oversteer or roll motion. It also helps maintain control in various road conditions such as ice, gravel or rain. AdvanceTrac with RSC also features Curve Control, which will slow the vehicle down when it senses that it's going too fast for a particular curve.39 Trailer Sway Control, too, is included in the Class II Trailer Tow Prep Package.
2017 Escape is smarter than ever. The available technology features can do just about anything - from alerting you to unintentional lane drifting, to auto-maneuvering you into (or out of) a tight parking spot, to opening the available hands-free, foot-activated liftgate with a gentle kick under the rear bumper. Available SYNC® 3 features voice-activated technology that helps keep you connected while you keep your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel.
Upgrade to available SYNC 3. Enjoy all of the standard SYNC features plus new hardware, new software, and a new easy-to-use design. SYNC 3 offers high-speed performance, enhanced voice recognition,27 a capacitive touch screen with swipe capability, available navigation with easy destination entry and pinch-to-zoom functionality, Siri® seamless integration,48 and automatic updates over Wi-Fi®.
With a SYNC® Connect-equipped vehicle, you can use FordPass® to track your vehicle's location and remotely access vehicle features such as start, lock and unlock and vehicle status including fuel level and approximate mileage. You can also schedule specific times to remotely start your vehicle so it's ready to hit the road as soon as you are.
The available BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert uses radar to identify a vehicle detected in your blind spot and alerts you with an indicator light in the appropriate exterior mirror. Cross-traffic alert also uses radar to watch for traffic behind you as you're slowly backing out of a parking spot or driveway. If cross-traffic sensors detect a vehicle approaching from up to 15 yards away, you will be audibly and visually alerted
Whether you're driving on a rainy or snow-covered road, the available Intelligent 4WD System continuously monitors traction and road conditions every 16 milliseconds. It can transfer torque from front wheels to rear wheels as needed to ensure a precise blend of handling and traction at all times.
A Ford Escape with available 2.0L EcoBoost® power and Class II Tow Package can tow up to 3,500 lbs. Trailer sway control technology is included in the package. When trailer sway is detected, the system automatically takes measures, such as applying precise braking or reduced engine torque, to help keep both the vehicle and the trailer under control.
The Escape can seat up to five. And its versatility lets you convert rear seat room to extra space — up to a maximum 68 cu. ft. — when transporting cargo takes priority.
Black roof rack side rails are included in the SE Technology Package and the SE Sport Appearance Package. Bright Silver roof rack side rails are standard on Titanium. Roof rack side rails with available crossbars* let you carry more on any adventure, especially items that don't transport easily inside the cargo area.
A versatile 60/40 split 2nd-row seat is standard in all models. Fold down either of the seat backs for more cargo space and still carry one or two rear passengers. Folding down both seat backs provides maximum cargo space of 68 cu. ft. with a flat load floor.
