For people who depend on their trucks every workday, it comes down to one all-important question: can they get the job done? At Ford, we take it a major step further: how can we build trucks that go that crucial extra mile and then some? We design by the principle that the best truck for today is the one engineered to meet the challenges of performance, efficiency and dependability long into the future. So we subjected F-150 to over 10 million miles of cumulative torture-testing to earn its Built Ford Tough® badge. And it more than delivered. It's no surprise that the F-Series remains the top-selling truck brand overall, for 39 years.
The 2017 Raptor is leaner, meaner and more powerful than ever. It's approximately 500 pounds lighter than the previous generation, thanks to high-strength, military-grade, aluminum body plus a high-strength, boxed steel frame. It also features an all-new twin-turbo, intercooled DOHC 24-valve high-output 3.5L EcoBoost® engine with port fuel injection and direct fuel injection that will deliver more power than the previous 6.2L V8 - 450 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. of torque, a 10-speed automatic transmission, all-new four-wheel drive system and 3.0-inch FOX Racing Shox,* delivering 13" of front and 14" of rear suspension travel.
Shifting into four-wheel drive is as easy as turning a dial with the electronic shift-on-the-fly (ESOF) system. ESOF lets you choose two four-wheel-drive modes (4x4 low or high) as well as two-wheel drive. LARIAT, King Ranch®, Limited, Platinum and Raptor models also include automatic 4WD mode. The FX4 Off-Road Package is optional on F-150 4x4s and includes electronic-locking rear differential, Hill Descent Control, off-road tuned shock absorbers, plus skid plates. A 4x4 "FX4 Off-Road" decal is also included. In addition, F-150 offers the available 360-degree camera with split-view display.
The 2017 F-150 Raptor sports 3.0-inch FOX Racing Shox with custom internal bypass technology, delivering 13" of front and 14" of rear suspension travel. This technology allows for variable damping rates based on wheel travel, which provides great off-road performance and a smooth ride on-road.
By using high-strength, military-grade, aluminum alloy for the body and high-strength steel in the frame, we've made today's Ford F-150 stronger and more efficient than previous generations. We've also designed the work space of both the cab interior and the pickup box to help you work smarter. And the F-150 offers optional features such as the 360-degree camera and the Pro Trailer Backup Assist. Jobs keep getting tougher. Budgets keep getting tighter. That's why this next generation of our Ford F-150 is engineered to be the hardest-working, most productive we've ever built.
BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) with cross-traffic alert and trailer coverage is available on F-150. And it also includes the added assurance of blind spot coverage for the trailer you're towing. BLIS signals you in the outside mirror when it detects a vehicle traveling in a vehicle or trailer blind spot. The cross-traffic alert feature can detect a vehicle passing behind when you're slowly backing out of a driveway or parking space
The available 360-degree camera with split-view display uses four cameras - one in the grille, tailgate, and under each of the sideview mirrors. The system enables you to see all sides of the truck by stitching the images together and displaying them on a center- stack screen. It's useful when maneuvering in tight spaces or on trails. Included with the 360-degree camera is the dynamic hitch assist feature, which provides a line-of-sight guide to help direct your hitch ball to the trailer receiver.
The F-150 provides lots of places to store the assortment of things you carry inside the cab. You'll also find plenty of space to stow items in the door-trim panel bins and under-seat rear storage area (in models with 40/20/40 front seating)—there's even space for a laptop inside the available flow-through center console. It also features a class-exclusive* fully flat rear load floor with under-seat storage (SuperCab and SuperCrew®).
F-150 boasts an impressive power-to-weight ratio and performance capability across the entire engine lineup. That means more than enough acceleration and pulling power - and efficiency to go with it. The F-150 offers four engines, the 2.7L EcoBoost® among them, so you can choose the combination of performance and fuel efficiency that matches the requirements of your work.
For 2017, F-150 pairs an all-new 10-speed transmission with its 3.5-liter EcoBoost® engine. The transmission delivers improved acceleration and performance compared with previous six-speed automatic transmissions, thanks to optimized wide-span gear spacing, coupled with drag-reduction actions. Three overdrive gears and a wider ratio span help improve fuel efficiency at highway speeds, while maintaining F-150's impressive towing. The 10-speed transmission uses advanced materials and alloys to save weight, which translates into enhanced shifting performance.
Exclusively on Raptor, the all-new, twin-turbo, intercooled DOHC 24-valve, high-output 3.5L EcoBoost® with port fuel injection and direct fuel injection will deliver more power than the previous 6.2L V8 - 450 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. of torque. A 10-speed automatic transmission with manual-shifting mode allows you to have control over gear selection without requiring the driver to operate a clutch.
